greenwood carving with Robin and Nicola Wood
Bushcraft bow and arrow masterclass
with Robin Wood & Fredrik Norgren of Västerås, Sweden.
A rare opportunity to work in a small group and learn effective axe and knife skills from two instructors who know them well. Then put them into practice by making a bushcraft bow and arrows.

The course is based in a small woodland in Essex where there is space to camp and shelters to work under if it rains. It is much more fun and safer to work in small groups so numbers are limited to just 8 people.

The course will be taught partly by Robin Wood (introduction to axe and knife skills) and partly by Fredrik Norgren (bow and arrow making). Fredrik is known to many bushcrafters in the UK through his superb youtube videos and many have said that he is “just like Ray Mears used to be in the early days.” You will learn how to make a very efficient bow and arrows from simple materials but also learn skills which can be used for a much wider range of projects.

When Robin first saw Fredrik's work he was immediately impressed by his relaxed and skilful use of axe and knife and no nonsense common sense approach to bushcraft. They are both looking forward to working together and sharing their skills with folk who are interested in the old ways of working wood. It should be fun.

You will be sharing cooking over an open fire and eating together. The food will be simple but good home made soups and stews.  Let us know if you have special dietary requirements (eg vegetarian).

All the tools you need will be supplied including a Swedish carving knife to take home, you are welcome to bring and use your tools and equipment if you have favourites too.
