more cherrywood spoons

Last week I was carving cherry spoons. I just had 2 small cherry logs about 6″ diameter and 6″ long. I carve just with an axe and knives and ended up with 21 finished spoons. (only 20 in the picture because one is already on the way to it’s new owner)

When I blogged last week folk asked for sideways views so here they are.

This design works extremely well from straight grained wood and still makes a strong light spoon which is a joy to use. My original design was inspired by old spoons in a museum in Galicia and the first one I carved has been my breakfast spoon used every day for the last 18 months.

You can buy them from the website here or come on a course to learn to carve spoons here.

Very nice spoons, Im amazed how you can keep them all to the same pattern. I only manage one maybe two at a time that are similar:)

Lovely design there. I'm amazed you can get so many out of that little wood.
