This mazer is based on some 14th century mazers from the Museum of Canterbury, but made from laburnum; the dark wood providing a beautiful contrast to the hallmarked silver rim again this piece was sold but I can make another along these lines.

Well, I’m not certain if the photo is of the one I bought, or I have its first cousin, but no matter. It is a thing of beauty: the wood, the silver, the shape, the sum effect of the whole is much greater than the parts. I love it, it begs to be handled.
