The swallows are now happily sitting on the nest whilst I turn 4 feet away.

Today I went to collect timber and brought home a large bur maple tree perfect for making mazers from. Bur wood is heavier and denser than straight grained wood of the same species and it is very eneficient to use since it has lots of bits of grown in bark, it’s hard to get a nice clean bit to make the mazers from but the result is worthwhile.

It was 8 o’ clock by the time I had unloaded and on the way home I stopped to watch a brown hare. We get Mountain hares in Edale too, they turn white in the winter but stay on the hills.
