   Do you not have a hollow (scandinavian) grind on one side of your axe for hewing?
   I have a small spoon carving axe that I love the weight of but the standard axe grind that is on it does not hew as well as my heavier gransfors-bruks carving axe (which has a shallower angle and hollow grind on one side).

   Hi Robin what is the exact name of this abrasive paper that you please ?
   is it the hermes abrasive film that one can get from axminster or actually a paper ?
