A personal favourite of mine with hand carved handles, based on an Elizabethan bowl found not far from Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. See the original bowl and my other design inspirations here. I use a porringer every day as my breakfast bowl and the little handles fit perfectly under my thumb as I cup it in my hand, making carrying it a pleasure. You can see me making one in the video on the home page and in the last chapter of my book “the wooden bowl”. The current ones are made from a fantastic old spalted beech.

I have had one for a few years – and it gives me pleasure with every breakfast! Feels perfect in the hand, fits its wooden spoon neatly, and I treasure it!
