I am delighted to have been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list. In some ways I feel slightly guilty to have it as it recognises the work of the Heritage Crafts Association which is very much a team effort by a wonderful bunch of voluntary trustees. It is great however that we are finally achieving recognition for traditional craftspeople. It all feels rather a long way away from my smokey worksite at the moment where our canoe build is very close to completion. I am a few days behind with blog posts so will share just one picture showing where we were up to last night.
An American friend asked yesterday what an MBE was, “Is that like half way to a nighthood?” well for those folk this side of the pond that want to know have a look here. it’s actually more like a quarter of the way to a nighthood.
Congratulations!
1/4 or 1/2 way, either one, it’s excellent to get some recognition for your work. Congrats. Plus this way, we don’t have to call you Sir Robin.
I for one am glad we don’t have to call him Sir Robin. Though it would be nice to be portrayed by Eric Idle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZwuTo7zKM8
Well done, Robin!
Congratulations! It speaks well of you and the vision of the committee.
Congratulations Robin!
Well deserved. It is good to see someone who obviously loves their work being recognised for what they do.
Congratulations Robin, thoroughly deserved.
Your becoming a member of the order was in order.
Congratulations Robin nice work mate.
